Farmer Fellowships
Chimacum Center Community Farmer Fellowships (CFF) (The 2022 Farmer Fellowships have been awarded. Please check back for information about 2023!)
The Chimacum Center’s ‘Community Farmer Fellowship' supports emerging and continuing farmers in Jefferson County growing food and doing grassroots community work to increase equitable land access, to create food wellness and justice, to support a diverse community of nourishment and to deepen connections and cultural roots in the landscape that feeds us.
The CFF fellowship supports recipients with a $600/month stipend over ten months (total of $6,000) to learn and grow through an agricultural project, as well as encouraging opportunities to take regional farm tours, participate in bi-monthly support sessions with Chimacum Center staff and organizational allies, and join workshops and other coordinated learning activities throughout the year.
The Community Farmer Fellowship acknowledges that starting up a farm-based endeavor and doing grassroots community work requires substantial outlay of time, energy and funding. This fellowship is intended to support farmer-activists who face socioeconomic barriers to entering agriculture, prioritizing those who come from historically marginalized communities.
Recipients are awarded a $6,000 stipend for the 10 month fellowship, beginning in March.
